I have been trying for several days to install a programme or two. They appear to install satisfactorily until near the end of the procedure when the programme installation rolls back saying that there is a problem, and it then rolls back the installation.
It appears that it is a security problem but everything I do to take possession of the files and make it as easy as possible to install,. is to no avail
Has anybody any ideas as to what is causing this. I am an administrator and the only user.
Frank.

If its windows vista try changing the installers file settings to run as administrator (right click file > properties > click compatablity tab > its a check box near the bottom) Vista even if your admin and the only user (My computer is) it still has alot of security needs such as this.
If that doesent fix it you might want to post the error it gives word for word.

This isn't a computer programming issue but a general PC issue, moving to PC issues forum...

right click and run as administrator
I always do that when I can. This was a self instal CD. I couldn't find an entry point to do that. I am going to reset the original ADMINISTRATOR for the instal and see if that works. Modem switched off of course.
I have three programs that do that and won't instal but roll back.
I hate Windows. All versions.

Most discs should have a setup.exe, install.exe, autorun.exe, ...
Post a screenshot of the contents of the CD. Make sure that "Show hidden files" is enabled.

Exactly what I would of said next as well :-)
Frank doesn't matter what OS you use, you'll have times when you'll get frustrated, have patience and get a coffee or something when things get too much... Besides thats what forums are for....
