Trying to romove my 'Windows Old' file after a re-install, I found that the Operating system. (Windows 7) has latched on to a file in 'Windows old'/Windows, and I cannot remove the folder.

Has anybody a useful suggestion at to how I can remedy this. I have been having numerous problems lately and I wonder whether this has anything to do with it.:(

Most peculicqueer, innit?

Moving to computer/PC discussions since this isn't a programming issue.

Get the file name, and google search for information about it. Such as:

If it's named winxp32.exe go to google and type in winxp32.exe windows 7 bug.

Thanks to all. But I still need to deal with this problem. How can I delete this file?
The operating system should not be linked to a file in Windows Old'.
It has never happened before.

But it's really not an issue. I believe Windows.old is created when system files are upgraded.

Copy your filename and google it, someone else should give you a solution.

but for future reference..... it was probably an adobe/acrobat file, I get those all the time and even changing the permissions on the file(s) does not seem to work... I usually 1st try in safe mode which sometimes lets you delete them and if that fails just load a live CD of mini-XP or a linux disc and delete them thataway.

Thanks. I'll bear that in mind.
