My birthday is coming up and I wanted to ask for a good graphics tablet, but wasnt sure what exactly to ask for. Any ideas would be most appreciated. This will mainly be used in photoshop if that makes a difference.

I was after one a while ago, I was told by quite a few people that Wacom (http://www.wacom.com/index2.cfm) ones were the best. They seem to have a range of models/prices.

Do you think the Graphire2 will be good enought for some drawing in photoshop and the like?

I'd have thought so yes. Pressure sensitivity is probably pretty useful in Photoshop. Of concern for me would be the active area (3.65" x 5") which for my own uses would probably be too small, but my uses would be drawing curves and tracing, more than drawing on screen or touching up images etc.

http://aap.deviantart.com this is a friend of mine who uses a tablet for a lot of his work (graphire2), and as you can see the effects are satisfactory :)

a tablet shouldnt affect your computer a whole bunch. in my experiences the wacom tablets dont slow down your comp more than photoshop normally does. no difference really in effiency if you use one.
