Hi there,

I have developed an AIR application I want to digitally sign it when compiling it.

I know I can buy the certificate from thawte etc... However, I have already bought a security certificate for my website https transactions.

Can I use that certificate for signing our app or are SSL certificates and signing certificates different?

Regards,

Andrew.

Nope, it's a different kind of certificate. Flash Builder will help you create a self-signed one if you are just testing or don't care about the "UNVERIFIED" message in the installer. Keep in mind that if you distribute the app with the self-signed certificate and you want to use a cert that you buy later, you have to sign the app with both certs or your users will get cert mismatch errors in the installer.

Hi there,

Thanks for that.

I have already been self-certifying for pre-alpha testing in the office. I need a trusted certificate for alpha/beta testing as I don't wan't to have to include an un-trusted certificate in the final app or have the users install a totally new app.

I'll go and get another certificate.

Thanks again.
