Just wondering if anyone onsite is versed in Linux better than I. Trying to decide a partitioning scheme for Debian Linux on my external hard drive. So far I have this.
Part # Name Mount Point Size Notes
1
/ (root)
20gb
...
2
swap
2gb
2gb of ram current
3
---
228gb
Formatted as LVM Physical Volume, holds volume group VG1
homeLV
/home (greatest amt)
?gb
Logical Volume in VG1?
tmpLV
/tmp
?gb
Logical Volume in VG1?
varLV
/var
?gb
Logical Volume in VG1?
optLV or usrLV
/opt or /usr/local
?gb
Logical Volume in VG1?
I mostly would like to use it for Multimedia, Video rendering, 3d Rendering with blender.
I will also be using it for testing out and learning about servers, and virtualization but thats mostly secondary. Any suggestions?
