Does anyone know what :

is from? Im currently reading through someone elses code and have seen this in the page. Is this a frontpage thing?

Yeah, it's front page. I believe (though I could be seriously mistaken) that it is for Form validation, similar to javascripts that make sure email addresses are formatted correctly and other stuff.
