Emails arriving late

I notice this from time to time in my Yahoo mail account. Don't think I've seen it in Gmail, but then again I use Yahoo for 90% of my emailing.

Basically, I have new mail, and when I go to the inbox, that latest mail is placed below several "newer" mails, though I believe the timestamps are correctly ordered.

I'm just wondering why this happens and if it's a Yahoo issue or a general email issue.

My feelings are it's a general yahoo issue, I don't think I have ever had this issue and I use gmail mostly or custom mail servers

I have the same problem with Yahoo. I don't see the problem with Gmail so I changed to it even when almost all important emails I received was in Yahoo mailbox.

I've noticed that sending an email to my yahoo account can take up to 15 mins to arrive when the same message (Cc-ed) arrives at the other addresses within a few seconds - up to a minute.

I suppose when it's free we can't complain but all the other free ones seem to function OK so I don't know why there should be a yahoo problem.

I haven't noticed that . I've been using yahoo email for several years.

The sender of that email may have different time setting in profile.

you should have to delete your extra mails from in box in order to avoid this thing

its the issue of the host's mail server,

Now-a-day this problem become to Large, Whether you are using Yahoo or Gmail. About 20%-30% mails are not received to me, i think this is due to Extra Ordinary Load on these Network

The e-mail servers might be very slow, or receiving many connections at the same moments...

Sometimes Yahoo servers get very busy and can not handle heavy loads. Delays are causing because of this. I faced this problem before 2 weeks. Almost it was taking 10 hours to receive an email. On the other hand Gmail works very fine.
