page transfer weight according to distinct elements?

does the weight of a page transfer depend on the transfer of distinct elements? like, if i've got a page where there's only one distinct image, but it's repeated many times all over the page, will the transfer increase with each appearance of the image, or will it simply increase by the image weight once? probably just once i guess, but i wanted to make sure.

Depends on how the user agent is constructed. Browsers generally only download it once, but many site-ripping tools download every resource each time it appears in the source. A badly constructed browser would probably do the same.
