I swapped an old pc for a digital decoder for my TV once. Still you could consider heading over to the http://overclockers.com forum and selling it in part form. You'd get more that way I think.

$250 AUD is about the right price, considering computers like that seem to retain a value of a few hundred dollars when they're worth nothing in the US.
