I want my pictures to lead straight to the link, instead it opens a new tab. i tried taking away the target="_blank", but blogger says "Required field must not be blank" when i take it away. Help is appreciated.

I don't know anything about Blogger - but if you're saying the target attribute is required (which seems a little odd...) then target="_self" will open the link in the same window.

He just told you exactly how to implement his suggestion. Are you so lazy you can't even copy and paste that?

Only you can fix this. Your live page is still showing the original unamended code. Try making the change on your live site and let's have a look at it.

See #5 under the forum guidelines (http://www.codingforums.com/postguide.htm):

5) Do not bump your thread repeatedly when you don't get a response. Sometimes when you post for help, you may not get a response in a timely matter, if at all. Forums aren't wishing wells, and some questions will fall through the cracks. That's a fact of life. It's ok to occasionally bump a thread, but only when done after an ample amount of time (ie: 2-3 days) have passed without a response, and never more than once, . Your thread is no more important than another member's when it comes to the amount of attention it should receive.

If you can't even upload files to your server, talk to your host.

Guys, open your eyes a bit. It's a Blogger weblog. You're definitely not uploading files.
@OP: Your request is more likely to be answered in an implementable way in a specialised forum. First, read the documentation. Otherwise, on the Blogger site, there is a link to a Google-hosted forum.

Opening files in a new window/tab is a browser dependent choice by the user. Any right-click on a link will give a choice in the Context Menu that pops up whether to open in a new tab/window. You can try to force that for browsers that have not been set, but it is still an action dependent on the browser's settings by default.

You need to log into your blog account and edit your HTML/CSS where it tells you. As already stated, asking specific questions about blogger would be better done in that blog's forum. Might help...
