Hi,

Recently I have been getting shedloads of emails sent to me telling and asking me how did I and how come Mudsplat is being advertised on Kazaa. The numbers exceed well over 90 in terms of emails.

I had no idea that this was going on, and not only am I being told that it comes as a popup, but also it is being displayed on the little advert bar.

If anyone else is having such experiences that use Kazaa, could you please let me know, and send me a screenshot of it also to security@mudsplat.com

You may not understand my anger, in that there is such a thing as good advertising - especially when it is free, but bad advertising is completely different, and is not good for a reputation for an upcomming company which has left me pretty niffed.

Kazaa refuse to reply to any emails, so I would appreciate some advice concerning this also.

Thanks all.

Ionsurge.

 They just add you onto there without you knowing?

Well that is what it seems like... which is mainly the thrust behind my frustration.

I meant what is Mudsplat all about, its purpose?

Mudsplat is to be somewhat like MSN or Yahoo, but during the months after the initial release, it will be significantly smaller.

Unlike MSN and Yahoo, Mudsplat will have no popups or adverts - so you do get a faster surfing experience.

Hopefully we will also be able to offer downloads for programs that are freeware/shareware - somewhat like download.com, but we will also offer programs that are corporate - mainly focused on security for large corporations, and advanced database management also - not for the usual fee of $17000, but completely free.

Additionally, there are to be user galleries, a chat center, and a forum, these will be located at mudsplat.net - the community site - mudsplat.com being the main website where everything is completely free to access - to all parts.

What exactly will happen at mudsplat.net completely is very very secretive - so I can't say much about it, but hopefully, it should be very big within the first three months.

I hope that tells you somewhat of the flavour behind Mudsplat, but it is not all of it, there will be a lot more.

Sounds good but how will you pay for it?

Via debit... :D

Well will cost up to what we have calculated about £450/$750 per month to maintain, if the Mudsplat starts to use around 5tb worth of bandwidth per month. The predecessor, Ionsurge.com used to have well over 1.5 GB worth bandwidth transferred every day - with just forums, and we are hopeful that we will get a lot more than Ionsurge ever did, which peaked at 176,000 visits a day - exceeding a million visits within the first 5 days.

Back in the old days in the 70's everything was free on the internet, and well now you'll be lucky to find something a place that is free, that offers as much as Mudsplat will do, or should do when it is released.

I doubt that you may know this, but modern crackers/hackers are rebelling against this world of pay per view internet sites. I am on their side, but I don't hack or crack sites to show my affection. Instead I am creating a site to show it instead.

I think it is something that will make people realise that the internet is becoming an unfriendly place - and I hope people may follow in this idea.

Currently, you find 14 - 45 year olds getting grips with the internet, and making websites - with the only intention to make money from it. Hence, you find a lot of sites that are run down within their first year.

I and the rest of the Mudsplat Team are trying to break free from this - and well all that can be said is that Mudsplat will never resort to adverts, or popups whatsoever unlike MSN and Yahoo, and other places like that.

In terms of affording this cost, well I am a graphics designer on a salary exceeding £80,000. £450 per month is an amount that I feel is worth helping the Internet go back to how it was, free for all - like Codingforums.com is.
