I just bought a netbook with Windows XP SP3 pre-installed by the manufacturer (Samsung).

I want to remove IE8, the default browser and install IE7. I want to do this to test my web development works in IE7 on XP.

I already have a laptop with win 7 and IE8 installed therefore my idea was to keep the 2 computers next to each other and test my pages on both browsers and OS without any re-booting or VM...

I do not have any option to remove IE8 or even SP3 (like Microsoft suggests on its website)

Any suggestion?

There is no need to uninstall IE8 and install IE7. I suggest you look into IETester. It contains IE versions from IE 5.5 to IE 8, even IE9 if you download the IE9 preview.

Even without IETester, simply setting the rendering mode to IE7 should do fine.

Put IE 8 in Compatibility Mode (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956197).

Agreed that will render just like IE7 also there is https://browserlab.adobe.com or http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/index.php
