Small Letters in Chemical Equations

Never had to ask an HTML/CSS question before, but not sure about this. How can I get the numbers in a chemical equation to be lower down than the letters (like the 2 in CH2O here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formaldehyde).

You want to use sub for chemicals
CH₃OH → H₂CO + H₂
