View Full Version : Movie playback issues in Movie Maker

I've just treated myself a Creative Vado HD pocket camcorder, but am having some major issues when trying to edit in Windows Movie Maker. The clips play back fine (smoothly) when using the editing suite - and I use the term quite wrongly - that comes bundled with the unit, but in Movie Maker it's constantly jerky, sometimes pausing for multiple seconds at a time.

When I save the file in Movie Maker, then play it back in any player (including Movie Maker) it plays fine.

The camcorder itself saves the movies as .avi - Movie Maker (as I'm sure most of you know) saves in .wmv.

All I can determine from this is that the problem appears to playing them as their original .avi files, but I strongly suspect there are other issues.

Could it just simply be down to insufficient CPU speeds (Sorry, I don't know the spec of my PC or how to find it)

OurJud,

Please tell us first what OS and the speed of your pc, by right clicking the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop and clicking Properties. Let us know what you see under the General tab in the new window that pops up.

You will see something like...

System:
Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

..
..

processor type CPU speed of pc GHz
speed of pc, 2GB of RAM

also tell us in the top part of this window if you have the latest Service Pack

to find out how to find the System properties for your pc, Google 'system properties'
