When you go into Windows and set a System Restore point, and your computer is messing up after using the CCleaner Registry Cleaner, do you just go back into Windows and use that restore point? CCleaner has a System Restore tab in its menu, but it acts like that's to remove restore points, so I'm a little confused.

Just click a time and select restore to that point, unless of course the registry cleaner has messed things up so bad you'll have to format.... what you could try doing is putting in your windows Disk and go through the motions. it should say windows is already installed to that partition, would you like to repair it.... that Hopefully should fix your system.

BTW This is one reason I don't recommend people use registry cleaners ever..... And Everyone just take this warning.... Don't use registry cleaners....

Simple fact is the registry is text, the amount of space you'd save by trimming registry entries is well.... pointless.... And commonly as you've just found out registry cleaners can remove things that windows actually needs to run., as for performance I've never ever seen a registry cleaner speed up a system with a proper test, a lot of people say they feel their system is going faster..... You know what.... People also feel red cars go faster..... or that a car that had a wash can go faster..... same deal....

I totally agree with this. They provide nearly no benefit and can cause some very serious headaches.

I don't follow. In CCleaner, or the place in Windows where you've set the restore point?

I was only asking about the mesed up system

for windows 7

or for vista

A quick Google on system restore for vista and 7 turned me up those.... if that doesn't work... could try a system repair if you have your windows disks
