Alright -- first off, the type face is called 'Porsche 911' -- I am on a Macintosh, so I don't know if I can send it to you and work... otherwise you can go to acidfonts.com (http://www.acidfonts.com) and download it yourself for whatever platform.

Before we start this thread, can you tell me what version of photoshop you are using, and if you have illustrator or not (and what version)?

...and, of course, are you on a macintosh or pc.

Ok -- so I can't give you the font (I don't have the translator installed).

Go to the www.acidfonts.com and download the porsche 911 font so that you can use it to create your logo.

1. Open up a photoshop document and make it whatever size your looking for (if you are doing a web logo use 72 dpi, for print media use atleast 300dpi -- if you think you'll need both -- build it at 300dpi, and then you can transfer it back and forth in sizes when it's needed).

2. Select the type tool ( likes like a big T), and type out the text for your logo [it will automatically create a new layer for you named as what you just typed].

3. to change colors for the text how you would like -- select the text letters/words you would like using the text tool again, and you will notice that your menu bar will change at the top to a list of things you may do to adjust the text you just highlighted. You will see a box there that is filled with the

color of your current text: double-click on that. You may now select whatever color you'd like.

This is how they have made one set of words red and one black in your current logo. Now, there are many ways to do this, I'm just giving you one that can be easily adjusted if you needed, on the fly.

4. Make a new layer - make a straight line on it ( you can do this by making a selection box and filling it with black to make the color of the last logo). You can always do the shortcut key command ctrl+T to adjust how thick and tall the line is. Now you have one line.

5. Now you can drag that layer into the icon on your 'layers menu' to create a "new layer". You can keep doing that to duplicate the lines over and over again.

Now, you may also use the pen tool and make a series of lines that can be used as 'paths'. This would be much faster and easier for you to do... but I don't know if you have that level of experience yet?

To do that: under the path tab, make a new 'work path' layer. Using the pen tool (holding shift will make you a straight line as you go) make a series of straight lines, wherever you'd like.
After you have all of them drawn, make a new layer in your 'layers' tab.
Then go back to your 'paths' tab, and click on the 'work path' layer to highlight your freshly drawn lines.
In that tab there should be a black right arrow like >. Click on that and select 'stroke path' and pick your selections. Remember, it'll stroke the path on whatever layer you have selected in the 'layers' tab.

6. Now you should have two layers (and a background one if you chose so): one with your text on it, and one with all these lines you just created. Click on the layer with the lines in it to make this layer active. Now, at the bottom of your 'layers' tab (second from the left), there should be an 'add mask' button. Click it. This should've added a mask layer to the right of your lines layer.

7. Click on that special little 'mask' icon so that it is active. Now, go pick a paint brush in the toolbox (one that is blurred on the outside, whatever size you feel you need as you go is ok). You are going to use this paint brush to 'hide' some of the edges so that they look faded like that logo you had posted.

Make sure you have the color black in your color section active (black will hide the image, white will make it reappear) and paint in the mask section with it.

You'll notice that part of the picture disappears (and if you followed this, some of the line edges should disappear). Now, at the top menu you can select how much it makes disappear from 0-100%. You may also change the size of the paint brush to paint smaller areas that hide.

Any questions?

What do you want it to say? And how do you want it to look? I'll make it quick...

Read up on photoshop... it'll help you as you build web pages and print, and all that good stuff. You may also use Paint Shop pro - I don't use it, but many people swear by it.

You got it WA -- I was just trying to bypass that 1000 character limit:o

I can create it as a psd, but I need to know the text you want so that I can make it the correct dimensions.

Hi:
Actually, the limit per post is 10k characters I believe, so you should be fine even with long posts.

WA yeah, that post was about 5000 characters, so it wouldn't let me post it all, I had to divide it up.

I tried to send it to you him but it came back to me this morning because it said your email account is full. I'll try resending it again. email me if you don't get it.
