hi

just looking for some thoughts. I'm looking to create a slideshow for a website. I know javascript and flash (with a bit of actionscript 3). As I'm not too experienced in web design I'm not too sure what one to use for the sldieshow. I'm thinking flash but I dont want to have any loading times if I can possibly help it.

As the company I'm design for are totally clueless about web design I'm going to need to have a CMS in place eventually, I'm thinking Joomla. I dont really know how it all fits together, would anyone know if someone in the company would be able to easily update the slideshow or should I consider another way altogether to make it easy for them to update in the future?

I'd be grateful if anyone could give me any advice.

Hi chicaloca,

I had come across some utilities in ASP which is called "ad rotator". The feature works in a way that you can input all your graphics e.g. names of jpeg photos, the time of images swap as well as the url links that you want to navigate to in a text file, the feature will then rotate the graphics and the linked urls according to your preferences. If you want to change the displays, just edit the text file and the related graphic files. There will not be any downloading needed as it involves swapping of graphic pictures only. However, this will be a bit different to a slide show that you intended to but I hope this will be an alternative to your choice.

Hi, i think you can try Photo Movietheater (http://www.etinysoft.com/slideshow-photo-movietheater.html). a professional slideshow maker software (http://www.etinysoft.com/slideshow-photo-movietheater.html) that can help you make a slideshow with photos and videos.
It has many built-in transitions and effects as well as illustrations.

I hope that can help. Good luck!

If you are considering Joomla, why not use one of the many Joomla extensions for this? Check the extensions.joomla.org website for a lot of options.

I'm going to need to have a CMS in place eventually...

Use a Joomla module - it'll save you heaps of work.

The Joomla mod for our JavaScript slideshow will be out in 2 weeks time. Try these examples... http://www.magictoolbox.com/magicslideshow_examples/
