sort of auto-update?

hi! i have a simple chatbox, where a registered user can submit a message here http://fael097.site11.com and i need some sort of script, where the chatbox refreshes for everyone when a new message is submitted.

scripts that auto refreshes the page each X seconds are not right for me, i just want to update when theres a new message. thank you

well for this kind of chat client, you will have to use some sort of refresh, how else will the web page know if there has been an update?

meta-refresh will work, or you would get the chat feed via ajax and use interval() to update it every few seconds.
