oke.. i tried to upload an image but it errored.. soo.. also im not a genius at this kinda stuff so i dunno what you do with cfm files or how to edit them..
any extra help would be much appreciated.

do i need a .com account with mySQL to do it?

To allow people to upload files, you're going to need server-side code. PHP, ASP, JSP. Something. You won't be able to copy 'n paste code from existing sites as all you'll see is the client-side code. You'll probably need a database (ie: mySQL) but your domain name (if that's what you mean by ".com account") doesn't matter.
