Hey all!

I was just wondering how to do a menu like this (http://www.craigdavid.co.uk/site/home.php) in Flash MX. I mean, not exactly like that, but like when the mouse moves over a link, the image slides to another. All help would be greatly appreaciated! :D

I have seen it around somewhere... let me dig it up for you.

(I can do it but it takes a while, and I really am not feeling up to writing that up at the moment... :P)

I have been looking around for a while now... with not much luck, but I know that it is somewhere in one of these two websites:

FlashKit : http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/Interactivity/Navigation/

or

Ultrashock.com : http://www.ultrashock.com/flas/Navigation___Interface/

I'll carry on my search, feel free to look through those sites, they have quite a lot of tutorials, opensource flash files free for download/use.

This application is incredibly simple to do in Swish. About an
hour's work for finished, professional quality movie.

Samples and tutorials at http://www.designsxchange.com

Just look up any of the image scrollers in tutorials and
download free source form the FX section.

Swish 2.0 can be downloaded for 15 day trial at
http://www.swishzone.com The product generates .swf
files and they can be imported into Flash.

Hope this helps.

ionsurge -- is there a Macintosh equivalent to Swish... I'm in the 1% of the world here, and just wondering...

Didn't say on their site, but I emailed the sales to get back to me. Thanks bpaulsen2000:thumbsup:

I don't recall the actionscript and it'd be Flash 5 anyway, but it's just a question of using getproperty() and setproperty() I did a few of these when I worked with flash, easy and doing it should teach you a bit if you've not dabbled with AS before.

btw, there used to be a tutorial on this, quite a simple and understandable one, on Were-here.com, but that place is gone http://silverpaw3d.com/smilies/dunno.gif

I have looked through the site, and there do not seem to be anywhere saying the requirements for Swish v2 whatsoever.

It may work on a Mac, no idea if it will. Download the trial version and check if it does.

It generates a standard .swf file, compatible with Flash
Players 4 through 6. It also supports a wide variety of
input file formats and will accept objects created in other
.swf generating programs, such as 3D animations.

You can download a 15 day free trial. To give you an idea of
what the product can do, I'm including a movie I made during
my trial period 2 years ago (Note: I am not an artist and have
a hard time drawing stick figures, by hand).

Trial Sample (http://www.vehicle411.com/python.swf)

Also, since this was drawn with vector graphics, the file size
including sound is only 47 K.

ionsurge I gave it a shot, but it does not work on a Mac. The sales department said they would not be going to this platform... and they said that Swishlite will work in Virtual PC, but the full Swish would not.

I can make an emulator, but it's not worth it. I'll stick with my Flash MX.:(

It is a foolish concept that they will not make Swish cross os compatible, InstallShield Developer 8 does it with the compiled program, why they choose not to do so is completely baffling, especially seeing as they are a pretty big company due to the success of Swish v2.

Could be a licensing thing, they may need to purchase another license from Macromedia to produce for a different platform.

There is a new release coming out with action scripting and
a bunch of other stuff.

Agreed IonSurge -- I would have imagined, that with the success of Macromedia on the Mac platform, they would have tried to compete with this... you may be right about the license.

But, alas, I'm on a Mac and I only have a select choice of video games as well... depressing.

Just a quick point, IonSurge is someone else on the web, and I am not him, completely different names, I am just Ionsurge - one word, not two like the previous.

No worries, I never knew there was another one until he happened to come across my old site, www.ionsurge.com :)
