david7777 04-24-2003, 03:06 PM Have you ever heard of SAP? If not - it's a business management software system designed in Germany. It is apparently the biggest in its market. I work with the ABAP language every day, and a forum on it would be absolute heaven to me and the rest of my kind! :)
SAP has such a wide range of aspects, that it is almost incomprehendable... Obviously if you were to consider this, starting with the ABAP programming language would be a nice start, but could expand into forums dealing with SAP usage, SAPScript, BAPI, all the diffirent modules of business management, etc... The list could go on forever.
Since the system costs millions of dollars to impliment in a company, its not very widely known. For this reason, i suspect that if you were to start such a forum, it would not be very big, but with time, may become one of the most usefull forums of its kind. I have seen other SAP forums, but nothing with the management and user capabilites of your site.
Anyone out there agree? :D
A1ien51 04-26-2003, 05:35 PM I do not know if too many people here know about SAP. You can look into it at http://www.javaranch.com. JavaRanch is more of a professional board that deals with certifications for Java and other web languages.

david7777 04-27-2003, 10:29 PM I realise that most people here dont know what it is, but if there was a forum for it, new members would join, hence, more people would know what it is :D
Thanx for the link, but ive got my certification - All I want is a nice forum for SAP. It would make life easier for us ABAPers :)
If a forum for SAP started here, i would be able to get about 30 new members in a week, just from here in South Africa. So im sure the rest of the world could find some interested programmers :)
I totally agree with you david7777, an ABAP forum would be awesome!
Hope the administrators of this forum, could do something about it :D
Greetings,
Blag

david7777 03-30-2006, 06:50 AM Aaaand... this has to do... WHAT with web coding and development?
The domain of this website is www.codingforums.com, not www.webcodingforums.com - Why should it be restricted to WEB coding and development??
You have a "Computing & Sciences" section wih forums on Computer Programming, Computer/PC discussions and Geek News and Humour.
The Computer Programming forum description is as follows:
Talk about computer programming such as C/C++, Assembly, Java, Python etc.
So just because you don't know what SAP or SAP ABAP is, it doesn't mean that it should be excluded from the forum.
In reply to your comment on this thread, SAP ABAP is a programming language, meaning coding. Thus, a good place to talk about it would be in a CODING forum.
For anyone interested, there is a SAP forum at the following websites: http://www.sapfans.com/forums/
Also, http://sdn.sap.com is a very good source...
Mhtml 03-30-2006, 12:27 PM That section was only added after lots of debate, these forums are fundamentally based on web coding.
And if you read under the logo at the top it says web coding and development forums.
secret.comrade 04-12-2006, 01:04 PM if anybody could assist in locating the South African SAP communities.
would be a big time favour..
ronaldb66 04-13-2006, 09:29 AM Why should it be restricted to WEB coding and development? Because that was chosen as the main focus of these forums long before their current incarnation.
If you would use Google, you might have found some of these links to sites and forums specifically catered towards SAP/ABAP:
SapGenie.com - ABAP forum (http://www.sapgenie.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=1)
SAP Knowledge base - ABAP (http://sap.ittoolbox.com/topics/t.asp?t=322&p=322&h1=322) (number of resources at the bottom of the page)
SAPFans.com - forums - ABAP (http://www.sapfans.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=13)
The Official UK SAP ABAP Forum (http://groups.msn.com/OfficalUKSAPABAPFORUM/messageboard.msnw)
