Sometimes my computer gives me an error message when I shut it down.

I think it's usually after using KaZaA....
I've reinstalled KaZaA recently so please don't suggest that.

It's probably the result of one of the many bits of spyware that installs with Kazaa. The people who code that spyware aren't the brightest bulbs in the box since those with good coding skills don't have to stoop that low. Unfortunately just removing Kazaa may not fix the problem either since much of that spyware is set up so it doesn't get removed when you remove the host software.


I'd try a product like AdAware to see what it can do for you.

Kazaa lite could be something for you - it seems to conflict with mozilla though - if I run kazaa lite, mozilla crashes if it tries to run a plugin (at least if said plugin is flash or QT).

Using programs like Kazaa will compromise the security of your machine as well as introduce spyware like cdilla and gain.

I'd suggest Kazaa lite if you need to use such a program or WinMX. I'd also use a firewall or Netmon-style program to monitor connections to your machine.

I stopped short of recommending Kazaa light since it's unofficial and what it does seems to be the moral equivalent of blocking the popups on a web host where you agreed to the popups as a condition of using that host. I would recommend not using software that carries such garbage and if there's no alternative software then it's something I probably don't need anyway.

if its not kazaa then I would suggest getting rid of ME. It seemed pretty flawed when I used it. Move to something like 2000 or XP.

Yea, I know KaZaA , the "save now" is a compromise to my machine.
However, I needed the resources- MP3's and images to make themes from.
