Router, Modem, & Site Hosting Issues

I have both a router and a modem. The modem is plugged into the router and my computer is plugged into the router. The internet works great, however I want to host a site and I have been having difficulties. Do I have to have a switch to host?

Right now I can only access my routers configuration settings via my local IP. The only way for me to access my modems settings are to plug my computer directly into the modem. Do I have to allow port forwarding on BOTH my router and modem to allow people to access my site?

You just need to forward the port on your router for your website. Go into the configuration for your router and forward port 80 to the IP address of the computer you have the web server running on.
