View Full Version : Not a question - but a message for Old Pedant and FishMonger

Forgive me (spookster ;) ) for posting a non-question here.

Been banging my head off a wall with a query and coding and got help from two (of several), very kind people around here in the last week or so. Helped by others of course throughout my time here and I do not overlook what they have done.

But - because the 2 people concerned seem not to visit the lounge - I would just like to express here, my heartfelt thanks them; who helped me most recently.

I have been working a this (huge to me) project for 4 years (blimey , it's 6), and had reached a point after 6 months ~ without a day off ~ of such frustration. I was not able to do what should have been straightforward. I felt like a beginner in perl again.

so thank you to Old Pedant and FishMonger specifically, for this bout of help. I can take a day or two off now to re-jig my brain.

As with most of you, who offer really meaningful help around here, I am always appreciative. I wonder where the Interweb would be - would it be? - were it not for such benevolent people as we find here and, in some cases perhaps, see taken for granted by some 'newbees'.

Tear in eye, I shan't say naff stuff about having excessive feelings towards
you but if/when I meet you, I will certainly shake your hand. (that's a meaningful thing where I come from and I seldom express myself like that).

Thanks again,

bazz

could/should have done it by pm but, I reckon they deserve gratitude and more public recognition than provided by PM.

Well, gee...what can I say?

I look at all the help Bazz offers and feel we all should be saying the same things about him.

I know that at times my posts have gotten on some people's nerves. I tend to be over-emphatic and like to prod people into solving their own problems when it looks like they are just being lazy. (And goodness knows when you "talk" as much as I do you are bound to make mistakes.) Bazz is *clearly* not lazy and I'm sure that he would have eventually fixed his problem without help, so if I managed to contribute the right nudge at the right time, that's great. And thanks to him for saying so.
