Hey everyone -

I just had a quick question regarding meta keywords and search engines. Is it a rule that you should only list meta keywords in the head section that are used repeatedly in the body text of your site or can you use all relevant keywords to your site? My hosting provider has an SEO visibility tool and I ran it and it said that my keywords were underused. Would you guys say having a lot of relevant keywords, like 'transcription, transcript, transcripts" etc. is a bad thing given that I really only use 'transcription' throughout the body of my site regularly.

Thanks -- starting a web site is proving a bit more difficult than I imagined!

The meta tag for description is recognised by some serach engines, including google, to show the description of a site under the search result. AFAIK, modern search engines do not consider the meta tag for keywords.
Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyword_stuffing, and the web master guidelines (http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35769) by google

Don't bother using meta keywords - search engines don't consider the content so it's just a waste of time.

Here is Google's official post about it:
