GIF images not display in IE

For some reason GIF images won't display on local html files :confused: This did not happen until a few weeks ago..

Why might this be ?

Possibly -

You have images turned off
The paths to the images are incorrect
The gif file type is no longer a registered file type
IE has kicked the bucket

Select tools, internet options, advanced, scroll to to multimedia submenu, and make sure 'play animations' and 'show images' are both checked.
