Hi all. I've been searching online for weeks now, and can't seem to find a free PHP Order Form that sends an email confirmation to the user who purchased the item. Basically what I want to do is allow my customers to buy my CD from my website, but I want to do it SECURELY, AND w/o the use of a database.

If there's a free script like this you can link me to, or even post on here, I would GREATLY appreciate it, as I'm sure others will also appreciate it as well! :)

Thanks!

Shadow~

Thanks, but that doesn't help. I need an entire order form code, either from the forums, or as a download somewhere, and it CANT use a database, but rather email the customer their recipt after purchase. I would prefer a download link. Thanks!

If you can't find it, there are only two possible reasons: 1) You're not good at Google, or 2) it doesn't exist.

Considering your requirements, I think that it doesn't exist. "Secure" and "email" don't really go together. I guess that you want the order form to email you the customer's CC# - horrible idea. Emailing a receipt to the customer is easy enough, but sending payment information by email is almost criminal. If that is your intent, it explains why you can't find a ready-made script.

You might consider explaining more fully what you want to accomplish. There are enough skilled people here to give you a push in the right direction and you could code it up yourself. Otherwise, pay someone to create what you need. There's a Web Projects forum here where that request would fit.

You could use paypal. It's pretty easy to develop a dynamic PayPal Buy Now button in your checkout page, then send the order details, along with the html <form> for the paypal button (yes, you will need to learn how to send HTML documents with php mail() if you don't already know).

Make an IPN script which emails you when the transaction goes through, and that's it. You could just display the button on your checkout page if you don't really want to send an email but it's up to you.

If you don't want to use paypal, then well, I can't help you.

He means it is extremely insecure and such a foolhardy move that it is *this* close to being a crime

Check the regulations by the credit card companies. Generally speaking, you need to be granted the rights to store credit card information (yes, email will qualify as a storage medium), which must pass an encryption protocol. Note that you must be granted this right by the corresponding company and I doubt that email will ever pass the qualifications.
For this reason, its much much easier to use a company specialized in this such as paypal.

Right, see, I plan to have them print their receipt after they purchase the item or items. I built my own order form but it wasnt easy. I'm not using credit cards. I'm using money orders ONLY.

You want use the free download script, all free script no safe guarantee (securely),
You want create email form combine with your order form but it's very simple, you just need add email script using php code than create random number as PIN or something to indicate your unique buyer...
you will send your goods after your buyer show the unique PIN number... it's can done without any DB as you want.

Alrighty then. Send customer an email with the order receipt to print, as well as a copy to you. Print the duplicate you receive. Get them to send the money order to you via mail (I hope your not expecting them to send cash through post), or what ever other delivery method (in person maybe?) along with the order receipt. Manually match the order receipt (you may want to use some kind of filing system) they give you with the one you were sent via email, verify and deliver goods.

In my opinion though, as a merchant, a more electronic approach would be preferred.

Right, But I prefer money orders only as it's the safest approach both for me and my customers in general. I'm going to add an option that they can print their receipt and get a NOTIFICATION that its been sent for order processing to my website :)
