opinions on streamlinenet.co.uk

They're on my shortlist of hosts I'm thinking of signing up to, well at least their free Trial hosting plan (to see what uptime etc. is like). Has anyone ever heard of streamlinenet.co.uk , maybe been a customer or are still one?

They say they've been established since 1999, so surely there should be something to say about them? I did a search and there is very little reference to them on the internet, however. Strange :confused: Any comments on this?

I've sent them an email and am going to see how long they take to respond to my sales enquiry (baring in mind that it's 8:30pm, saturday night... nice to know if they have someone to check email once on weekends or something...) but I'd still like opinions from people here (you're a diverse and informative lot, so I figure there must be someone here who's got something to say ;))...

It is too easy to fall for the "free trial" ploy. If after a trial you are not satisfied there can be a lot of hassle in changing to another ISP. In my experience you generally get what you pay for..........

I've used streamlinenet for about 2 years. Very cheep and good as long as you don't need any assistance. For my personnal home page they are fine as it's just a photo dump. I also use them for work and am trying to run a sql database which is proving v-problematic as they have no tutorials etc. You get what you pay for... for space, excellent. For support, forget it.

Just to update, I ended up going with f2s.com and don't think I could have made a better choice. When my website was mindlessly defaced (terrorist stuff was posted up due to an insecure script) on december 27th my support emails were answered very shortly, either that afternoon or the next morning as i recall.

Sorry to hear you're having problems with Streamlinenet, I'm glad I didn't use them afterall then (i'm guess i'm a bit of a tech support nightmare, always trying out new things on my webspace like wanting to install perl modules, etc.)... Good luck with a resolution!

Wouldnt touch them,

took out a trial, upgraded, got nothing back from them so i cancelled,
but they still took my money and wont let me have it back.

They just take too long to respond to anything.....

Hmm. Well, no matter for me because I went with (and still am with) f2s.com, as I updated on the thread a year after I posted the original question...
