Adding real graphical smilies to a textarea, how?!

If you ever sent mail with Yahoo!, you know what I'm talking about. Just imagine of a textarea with a list of graphical smilies (I mean pictures, not simple characters) that after you click on them, they'll be added to your textarea. Is there any tutorial that I can read or something?

shouldn't be possible. can you give us a screenshot of what you're talking about; i haven't got a yahoo account.

contenteditable with IE, and Midas in Mozilla can reproduce that effect.

Well, this page is in Farsi, but you can work with the editor and the smilies as well, No need to send a screen shot! :p
