View Full Version : Can you use a decimal 9 (ie. 16.6%) as a width in a table cell?

width="16.6%"

It seems to work in IE but does anyone know if this will cause problems in other browsers?

Really no need to when you can use px for more accuracy. :D

Right on redhead, I started that thread! Also, zoobie, percentages are more versatile across wider arrays of screen res's.

Ha ha!

6 months ago, it was "Oh my God! Don't use percentages! It won't render properly! Oh my God!"

Now, it's "Oh my God! Don't use pixels! It's not versatile! Oh my God!"

Jeez...:rolleyes:

Which to use really depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Some columns should only grow to a maximum size in pixels because any extra growth would simply be wasted space while other columns should dynamically grow to handle all of the space they can get. So there's room and reaon on a single page to use both fixed pixel (or minimum and maximum pixel) sizes and percentage sizes.
