Hello Everyone,

I'm completely new to this forum and I want to apologize for posting a question without first contributing to this forum. With that said, I will like to figure out if I spend the last 3 1/2 24x7 wasting my time. I created www.webcrop.net and so far I have gotten only one positive comment regarding the service it provides. I will love to get others opinion from this forum mostly about the concept of the website (the service it offers). Thank for taking the time to help.

I just use the RSS feed they provide and display that on my home page.
It would be an extra step to have to view it on your site.

mlseim's point is a good one. What extra value does your site add? I'm not saying it doesn't, but thinking about that might help you be more successful.

And from a critique perspective, I don't like how you have words that are underlined and a different color that aren't links on the main page. That sort of decoration combination is used to indicate the word(s) are hyperlinks.

The front page could use a better description of what the service does, throw in some screenshots too.

Words of encouragement, your website could with a bit of CSS to tidy up the wide but thin look, check out http://www.csszengarden.com/ for some awesome tips. Also I'd only use 2 colours or 3 if you have to, headings should be in bigger fonts compared to the information presented, the contrast will help make your information easier to digest.

I think we are missing the point of the site. Not every site has an rss feed. And if they do have an rss feed it may not be the data you wanted to see. I do admit it might be easier to just go to their site but to have everything in one place allowing you to see only what you want to see on a page might be useful. E.g. you like the way yahoo displays their weather as opposed to some other site so you crop out their weather section.

I like the concept but as already said the design could use some work.

I think you have a good idea to be honest, My suggestion would be, Show people how it works, the description is bleek at best and you have no other option but to sign up to take part, how about a guest browse as default with the option to vote for specific headlines etc, it seems too much like yh
our telling them to sign up rather then creating a comunity for anyone to see,
a good clean design and examples of it working and i think this project coule work.
first and formost dont block out viewers if they dont want o sign up use the sign up feature as an addon if you want to join the comunity
also Brand yourself and maybe a slogan

Dont get disheartened i think you could have something here and to show a little faith i made you this
