How much control do we (you!) have over the HTML output of this forum?

What made ask was that I noticed the smilies have no alt text. They should do:

<img src="images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt=";)">

But from that ... well, I've been trying to surf this site with Home Page Reader, and it's almost (but not quite) impossible. I have a few suggestions for accessibility improvements - but is that feasible to implement? Or should I be talking to Jelsoft about it?

Hi brothercake:
As the admin I don't have easy access to the smilies tags other than the paths to their images. VB3 should be even more (x)html compliant than the current VB2, so my guess is the alt attribute will be added in by default, but that's just my expectation.

Oh cool; I didn't realise there was an update in the pipeline.

VB3 is currently in beta, and should be ready for download late this year. I'm excited to upgrade, as apparently a lot has changed under the hood with lots of new features. You can browse/use the beta version here: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/index.php

I must agree it is significantly better, and well it will scare all of the other bulletin boards out of the ocean that this beast called vb lurks in.

I get tingly just reading through its feature list... :D

they are always releasing updates, with new features and bug fixes. This VB3 release sounds pretty full on though, looking at the list of features added from some of the links ionsurge posted.

"Can see invisible users" - lol... anyone with the ability to do that must be a complete freak... abit of a contridiction, methinks

the quick reply will be nice... then i wont have to click as much :)

thats a pretty impressive features list... it'll be great to have the CF community on a beast of a board like that :)

it'd also be nice for the best web development help related board type thing (us) on the web to be outputting something valid :p

A simple formula

vb == great

k-board ( new one coming soon) == [vb² × phpBB³] × [vb³ - vb]
… => == better

Well, I'm still hoping for coherent accessibility to screenreaders; nothing I've read in those posts is inspiring me; just have to wait and see I guess.
