After practically pulling , my hair out I was able to make a scroll bar appear on the website by adding a height to the body tag. However when you move the scroll bar nothing actually happens. There are two images lower on the page so there is content down there.

its generally considered bad practice to assign a fixed height, particularly to the body. what are you trying to achieve? you can force scrollbars by using

overflow-y:scroll;

edit: should be scroll sorry

Hello spidergirl,
First of all I'd like to say welcome to CodingForums.com!

Your site works fine for me. I'm not seeing any problem at all.

met is right, if you want to force a scroll bar overflow-y:scroll; works very well. What content is below that you can't scroll to and what browser is not able to get down there?
In FF3.5 and IE8 I can see the #apple and #pencil even when I size the window to where I have to scroll to see it.

That is a very cool method of switching #intro/#subjects/#home ... on that book. An excellent alternative to frames.

Have a look at the errors the validator finds. Some easy stuff there to fix. Check out the links about validation in my sig below.

p.s.
When you post a link there is really no need to post the code/CSS but, when posting code, if you'd use the

- available with the # button in the post edit window - it greatly helps the readability of your post.
