I don't usually pay much attention to the ads here (nothing I need), but I've seen a couple of MS ads today. When I saw this one, I had to stare at it for a minute to make sure I was reading it correctly:

Seems like a clever piece of marketing. I didn't know that MS had "embraced" PHP like this even to the point of ingeniously marketing that it's just another part of web development for a Windows server.

High comedy from the link:

no single vendor can address all of your needs
Did Microsoft say that?

And:

Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7.0 provides an open platform for hosting PHP applications from a single server.
Cleverness again? Seems to be playing off the term "open source", which is an alien concept to Server and IIS, afaik.

Furthermore, "Install the latest version of PHP for Windows using the Microsoft Web Platform Installer." Has anyone done this? Is it real PHP, or just another case of MS embrace and suffocate... er... embrace and extend.

Interesting (to me, anyway) that I notice this ad just a few days after reading that MS uses MySQL in Azure.

PHP is officially distributed on Windows by the team, but I think it's limited to 32-bit. I don't know how long this state of affairs had existed, but I believe it's had a few months behind it now.
