EDI - any books/links on how to implement it into a website?

EDI is a typical purchasing machine used by companies to automatically set up P.O.'s, etc --

I've never coded a site to link to an EDI machine online... can it be done? I image - but I've never seen anything on it.

Anybody have some research online or books on the subject... or any advice?

Since EDI is a data formatting protocol and not a data communication protocol it should be possible. Just make sure that you and each of your trading partners support at least one data transfer protocol in common.
