I am conducting research for a social investigation report on the necessity for establishing ownership of commissioned work, and would value some feedback in this area. If anyone would be willing to answer some of the questions below it would be greatly appreciated.
1. Have you done programming work as an independent contractor? On how many separate occasions?
2. How often were you provided benefits by the hiring parties?
3. Have you retained ownership of any of the applications or code that you wrote during those contracts?
4. Were rights of ownership negotiated up front or included as part of the contract?
5. Have you ever been in a dispute over ownership? If so, what steps were taken to resolve the issue and what was the outcome?
6. What is your professional opinion on the ownership of commissioned software applications?
7. Is there anything else that you would like to add on this topic?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to view my post and hopefully provide some feedback.
