sql question

Is it possible to retrieve value of a column from a newly inserted row.

I know how it is done for a table which has IDENTITY column.

It's just a matter of getting the right record by using a condition (for instance "where user=theusers and timer=thetimer" or something like that) It's been dealt with several times.
