I have this css for the filter div

#filter {
display: block;
position: absolute;
top: 0%;
left: 0%;
width: 100%;
min-height: 900px;

overflow:visible;
background-color:#000;
z-index:900000;
opacity:0.5;
filter: alpha(opacity=50);
}

The problem is the screen is only faded for that portion which visible on the screen but when i scroll down then the lower portion is still unfaded.
How to fade the whole page

EDIT:

I tried this as well but didn't work

position: absolute;
top: 0; right: 0; bottom: 0; left: 0;

You need to use position: fixed; I suppose (although that won’t work in IE 6 – there are workarounds, though, with position: absolute and overflow: auto on the body or container or something like that)
