I saw a thread from 2003 where somebody wanted to make Atari 2600 games:

Back then it was pretty hard for a beginner to make Atari 2600 games since they had to use Assembly Language. For those who don't know, creating games for the Atari 2600 became a lot easier in 2005. That's when batari Basic (http://www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-batari-basic-commands.html) was created. It's a free BASIC-like language for making Atari 2600 games. It improved over the years and things got even better when Visual batari Basic (http://www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-batari-basic-vbb.html) (the free bB IDE) was released in 2008. VbB has all kinds of useful tools that makes batari Basic more fun and much easier to use. Be sure to check out the batari Basic forum where you can post questions, code, and playable versions of your works in progress:

I don't know how many members or visitors of codingforums.com are interested in making Atari 2600 games, but there's the info just in case. I hope it will be helpful to somebody sooner or later.
