Hello,

I am trying to write a simple PERL script that captures a username and password from text boxes on a website and authenticates them against an LDAP Active Directory, over SSL.

So, someone will go to a website, enter their username and password in the appropriate text box, click "Login," and if they enter it correctly, they can proceed.

This doesn't seem like it should be too difficult, but I have not had much luck in Googling it.

Thanks for the help.

No I did not...I went there just now and unfortunately, being new to Perl and LDAP, I am not too sure what I am looking at. Is there an example PERL script that implements what I am talking about? Thanks.

must be somewhere but the main idea is that you have a form and a something what will process the submited data. Once you know how to do each part you know all, :)
one of the links on cpan point to some examples:

http://search.cpan.org/~gbarr/perl-ldap-0.39/lib/Net/LDAP/Examples.pod

so if you know how to make a form, the rest is simple. That in case that this is what you want.

I guess I'm wrong with the link I posted. Search for auth+ldap on cpan
best regards

I am still not having much with this documentation...I understand I need to bind to the LDAP server, but I will not be able to connect with the admin username and password. All I want to do is VERIFY the login information being entered...Is it necessary to connect with the admin info in order to do this or does the LDAP server have the ability to call a validation function from the outside? Thanks.
