Hey all,

I know how to create an image in PHP and throw SQL data on it, but I'm always getting it as an extension as ".php" to correctly display data.

I'm coding a topsite and I want to be able to have users with images for their site displaying their rank number. Easy enough! BUT I don't want it to be linked as "banner.php?id=388" I want it something like "banner388.gif"

http://www.blogtopsites.com/v_9988.gif

This site has managed to do this (change the number 9988 to something else to see a different result).

Can someone PLEASE tell me how this is done? Thanks ;)

The technique used here is called URL rewriting and is a function of the Apache web server. Google "apache rewrite" for examples and tutorials. This one here floats to the top, looks very thorough:
