Where does MySQL store the actual db(s) on Linux?

normally, thats in `/usr/local/var' but you can make sure by checking the congigurationfile

Nope. I don't even have a var in my /usr/local/.

Where is the configuration file and what is it called?

I was wondering this too. I found a directory called 'db' in the file:/var but it appears to be empty
