Windows XP instalation order

My Windows XP instalations currently go something like this:-

Full Windows instalation - SP1 - Drivers/VJM - Office/Visual studio - and finally other programs(winamp, Nero, Norton AV, United devices Photoshop ect ect).

I de-fragg at every step along the way.

Is this the best way too do things? -eg should I install ALL my drivers before i start installing windows updates? are there any programs that should be installed early/later in the process? is it a good idea too de-fragg regularly along the way?

I'd install the drivers before you install SP1 and run windows update.

You probably don't need to defragement between every step. Its kind of a waste of time just run it when your all done.
