You know how you let's say have a pic of a map on your page with locations marked all over it and once you press on one of the locations on the map (be that a dot or a loc. name or whetever else) that takes you to that next page? Any one know what I'm talking about? Any one has a code?
Thank you very much!

If I understand you correctly, you don't need a script for this; you need an image map.
Find a decent HTML reference (http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html32.html#map) and look for "image map".

What is all that stuff on that page like
<!ELEMENT MAP - - (AREA)+>
I've always used HTML 4.0 and never less. Was the older stuff really so different? And I've seen some XHTML stuff look the same. What's going on?
