I have a 4 gig (yes, only 4) hard drive right now as the master drive. I was trying to put in another 3 (I should get bigger hard drives) gig as a slave drive, and when XP booted up, it said in the systray "Found New Hardware - Disk Drive"...and...then...bluescreened....I've tried everything from switching around plugs to switching around the jumpers, and all it wants to do is bluescreen.

The only conclusion I've drawn is simply either a) My 4 can't hold any slaves, or b) The 3 is faulty.

Any you fellow nerds have a clue what I should do? :-)

Thats pretty much what I would have assumed, but the drive not being able to have a slave only usually happens with really old HDs (under 1GB). I suggest you try using the 3GB by itself, just to see if it works and go from there. Maybe try it on another system if possible.

Problem solved...seems that I just had a few unlucky instances where it bluescreened at the boot :-P

(either that or my dad has the magic touch - he knows WAY more about computers than I do, but gets pissed when I ask him for help (works @ Microsoft -> talks on the phone all day -> sick of computers -> get it?) - thanks!) :-)
