...what is a text expander? Is it like when you map a combination of letters to a word?

When typing, often used passages can be called using a code. Thus:

I type "##add" for example and the output is my address

House number
Street
District
Postcode
any other stuff

I have a trial one. If I type in "##"followed by"dwight" the following is output.

Things are more like they are now than they ever were before. - Dwight D. Eisenhower.

This has come out. Without any other acton than typing in the code.

type in 'style' after the two ##'s and this comes out.

<style type="text/css">

</style>

Very time saving. Insight Software do one called Shortkeys. I am using a trial version.
I also believe that some spell checkers can be configured to do something like this.

see some here. (http://uk.ask.com/web?qsrc=999&l=dis&b=100024&siteid=10000532&o=10000532&q=text+expanders)

They are also called Text expanders here. (http://uk.ask.com/web?qsrc=999&l=dis&b=100024&siteid=10000532&o=10000532&q=text+expanders)

If you look at my previous post, you will see that I am using a trial version of Shorkeys.

It is a very good program. I have found that it is better to exit it when coding as it sometimes puts things in when not wanted.
But it is not free.

EDIT: I have bought it. Very useful.
