I ordered a new phone the other day, and it said it had Windows mobile installed on it. I'm wondering what all Windows Mobile can do on a cell phone.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Koss

Hey kosstr12,
I have windows mobile 6.1 here on my htc mogul with sprint. The sprint ROM comes with office mobile, internet explorer, java, msn messenger, windows media player, internet sharing and some other things. To get the most out of windows mobile I think you need to install some additional software, depending on what your particular ROM does or doesn't come bundled with. I've installed some pretty useful programs. Google has quite a bit of great free programs for windows mobile like google maps and youtube viewer. I've also got a program that turns on the camera light from one button to act as a flashlight, Palringo to support multiple client instant messaging, and Flash player 7. On the pay for side Opera Browser I think is a bit superior to IE (although not as much with wm6.1), and WMWifiRouter I have turns my phone into a wifi hotspot.
Anyways, these are some things I do with windows mobile- I'm sure you can figure out some others. It's not really a question of what the operating system can do, it's what software is available and the limitations of the hardware in your particular phone.

I would also look into using Skyfire as your browser. Its right up there with Opera and probably beats IE. Its free too.

Wow, Thanks for all of the information!
Just a few questions:
When you say Flash Player 7, does that mean flash animations will be supports on my phone?
and
When you Java, will I be able to run applets and such on my phone?
I would also look into using Skyfire as your browser. Its right up there with Opera and probably beats IE. Its free too.
And it works with Windows Mobile?

If you had done a search for it on your own you would see on their front page that it was made for Windows Mobile and Nokia Phones.

_Aerospace_Eng_: That skyfire browser is impressive-might become my favorite mobile browser.

Well, yes exactly. The flash player 7 doesn't play everything as quite a few flash animations require a newer version. Although that skyfire browser seems to run flash really well. The only issue I've had with applets is when the resolution is too large for the screen or when an applet is too processor intensive to run smoothly on my limited phone.
