View Full Version : Making a game.

I'm looking into making / buying a crime/mafia game.

It must have

An in-game chat,
crimes, (for gaining exp)
ability to kill other players,
stating up,
a bank (for players to earn interest on their gains)
Missions (Possibly)
Skills (For boosting attacks etc..)

As well as some other good stuff to keep the players entertained.

None of this turn based crap that's flooding the market also.

I'd like the players to have continuous play wherever possible to keep them enjoying the game. I have a lot of time to dedicate making the game great and am looking for a coder (to set the game up from scratch) or for working game code that fits what I have described above.

As far as payment is concerned, the coder would recieve 50% of all revenue generated for as long as they wish to be a part of the project.

For people wanting to sell me game code, I'd like to have the chance to see/play the game see how it works and stuff before a decision weather or not to purchase is made.

A must though in either case is that the Admin char must be able to Create new missions/quests and items/armours by means of a

Add: Quest Name
Pre-Requisites (i.e str needed, def needed etc..)
Explanation: For a story to it for a bit of fun maybe.

Item/Armour wise.

Item Name:
Boost it gives: I.e 10% extra str or whatever.

Contac me via this site, I will be checking back regularly. Feel free to post any questions/comments here also. I'l reply as fast as I can with the best answer I can, thank you for your time weather you can help or not.

Let me understand-- you want to give someone 50% of a website's profits in return for coding the entire website. Doesn't this strike you as a little bit insane? As a coder, what would I give up if I were to just cut you out of the deal altogether and keep 100% of the website's profits?

In other words, what are you bringing to the table that's worth 50% of the project's equity?

The idea's (from scratch), and I would also be handling the design aspect. (Like item graphics, etc..) the only problem I have with making a game is that I cannot code.

It would be a team effort, I would also handle all advertisement of the game to help ensure a good active and growing playerbase.

I'm not in this just for the money, I want to see something good, something that grows and something that people will enjoy, stay to play and someday maybe even pay to play it. (All dependant on what purchases go in of course)

First wrong section, Second, don't make another one of these games theirs only 10,364 of these out their and only a handful are popular, plus your never going to find a coder to do this....How about picking something that everyone would enjoy or use.

Not to be rude, but I agree with these two. 90% of "coders" also have experience in XHTML/CSS and graphic design, because generally a coder like me who is self taught started small with web design, and moved up gradually. I've never met a PHP developer who couldn't also design a site. (Even if it wasn't up to par s/he could still design) so Coding is like 90% of the work here. If there was payment for the coding and then on going payment to be a full time coder this is plausible.

I don't know what you're thinking that you're going to set up a site and just start earning tons of cash. It generally takes a long time for a site to start giving back, and 50% of that isn't likely to be a lot. You're pretty much asking someone to do almost all the work, and then stick around to fix any bugs or problems, and this whole time they're relying on you to market, and advertise right so the site can actually have revenue.

And yea.. whats up with mafia games, there's enough on Myspace and Facebook! !! ! ! ! !! !@$#@$#@ I was an app developer for myspace and that's all I saw these rip off mafia games, but more likely people who didn't even know java script let alone the opensocial api, but wanting a clone of this type of game.
