I have about 270 mp3 files that should be divided into groups able to burn onto discs. At the moment they are named 01.mp3 etc. They should be named Disc 1 Tract 001.mp3 or something meaningful like that. I would like to use a program that would let me rename all of them rather than edit each one and then divide them into Disc length groups and create a folder for each disc. I can't seem to find the means in Windows Media Player or Roxio. Do any of you have any suggestions? I can't write the program because I have had to get a new computer and I my Visual Studio discs are not readable for some reason (I have to get MS to replace them if I can).

I think you'll need to look into something like mp3tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/). I've used it to rename all of the tracks in an entire album before. I know wmp for Windows 7 you can view your folder structure of your audio files directly in WMP which is usefull because you can just burn those files.

Also check out: http://musicbrainz.org/ on their front page the link to some taggers that use their database. I've used the Picard one before, it works pretty well.
