Games console Help

Hello eveyone,

I dont know where to post it but i thought this might be apropriate. Anyway, i want to make my own games console and have moderate experiance in electronics but i was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction as to where to find a list of part that i will need to make a decent console. I am working on a firmware for one already.

Well, how is this console going to work as far as output? Is it going to have its own screen or connect to a monitor?

Are the games going to be fixed or is it going to support loading games from some sort of external media? (SD card, CD, some custom solution, etc.)

It will have an external monitor and it will load media from an external source

I don't know if there is a specific list or not, probably not since there is no real wrong way to do it. However I would first decide what processor and subsequent processor architecture you want to use.

I haven't used these but I've heard some ok things about them: http://www.gumstix.com/ You can of course build it more from scratch too.
